English chat? Interesting!
For those who don't visit English forums and such this kind of chatting topic might do a lot for their writing skills in English. Although I think that Finnish schools mostly do a great job in teaching how to write English, usually they do terrible job in teaching how to speak it. For me speaking English is quite horrible, I overthink words. I know how to pronounce them, but I end up trying to say things too perfectly and often end up mumbling the words so that no-one can even understand. Good example of this is that when I'm drunk (and thus more relaxed) and speaking with a foreign people I tend to speak very fluently.. I don't need time to think words, nor how to pronounce them.. So that's one thing I have to work on, sadly there aren't that many opportunies to speak the language.
But in comparison to Finnish language I think both have their moments. Finnish has great flexibility with its words. You can be very precise with words using correct suffixes and even make up new words out of thin air that people most like understand what it means. English language on the other hand have great many words often describing the same thing, but with slighty different meaning or emphazises.. that is the reason why I often prefer to read books in English if they were written in that language. You can lose a lot of information and subtlety in translation.
